A converted barn tucked into a quiet Wiltshire courtyard, this house earns its keep in every season – log up beside the wood burner when the temperature drops, or fire up the barbecue and spill out onto the garden terrace when the sun obliges. The bedrooms have personality, including one with a resort-inspired, palm-print feel that's a long way from the ordinary. Dogs are welcome, the village pub is a short stroll away, and a farm shop and garden centre sit right next door. Avebury's vast prehistoric stone circle is a thirty-four-minute drive for when you're ready to explore.

* You'll need a car to make the most of the area. Woodborough is a rural village and most of the nearby attractions, towns, and restaurants require driving to reach.
* Off-road parking is available for two cars in front of the home, with additional free parking next door at the garden centre. Vans are not permitted to park at the home.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a travel cot, high chair, non-slip bath mat, and children's melamine dinnerware. Request these in advance to make sure everything is ready on arrival.
* While the WC isn't photographed, expect the style and quality to be consistent with the rest of the home.
