For those wishing to explore the Saxon roots of the area, the town museum and abbey ruins and Gold Hill are well worth a visit. Within 25 miles of Motcombe are Longleat, Stourhead, Haynes Motor Museum, the cathedral cities of Salisbury and Bath and the Kennet and Avon canal, all great choices for a day out. Some of the beautiful Dorset beaches are just over 30 miles away.
