The design is clean and contemporary, and is well-enough equipped that, more than a city base, it's an inviting spot for relaxed evenings at home. Step outside and you're a short walk from Place des Vosges, the Centre Pompidou, and the cobblestone streets that make Le Marais one of the most rewarding parts of the city to simply wander – with independent boutiques, cafes, and bakeries at every turn.

Home truths:
* At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living area.
* You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob. We think the kitchen is better suited to prepping lighter bites than large meals.
* The apartment is on the first floor and accessed via stairs only – there is no lift in the building. If you have mobility considerations, it's worth bearing this in mind before booking.
* As is common in France, the toilet is separate from the bathroom.
* Well-behaved pets are welcome to accompany you during your stay.
* Your host asks you to respect quiet hours between 10pm and 8am.
