The double-height living room opens through a glass façade onto a canopy of Parisian treetops – an unexpectedly green outlook for a city-centre home – while a mezzanine bedroom floats above it all. A large projector makes for easy evenings in, and the dining area has a calm, considered feel with its tree-lined windows. Blanche metro station is a two-minute walk, putting Sacré-Cœur fifteen minutes on foot and Gare du Nord – for Eurostar connections – around fifteen minutes by metro.

Home truths:
* The apartment is arranged over two levels connected by an interior staircase, so you'll be going up and down stairs regularly. If you're travelling with young children, take extra care on the staircase.
* The mezzanine sleeping area can be configured as either two single beds or one king-size bed, depending on what works best for you. Just let your host know in advance which setup you'd prefer.
* There's no air conditioning here. The building's central heating runs roughly from mid-October to early April and is managed collectively by the building – you won't be able to adjust it individually.
* You're close to the lively Pigalle neighbourhood, so some street noise and city sounds are likely to filter through, particularly in the evenings.
