A Haussmann apartment on two floors, this Paris home feels like old Paris distilled – herringbone parquet, period fireplaces, ornate mouldings, and a living room with panelled walls and a panoramic fresco that makes lingering over morning coffee an easy habit. The main bedroom opens directly onto the balcony, while the other three rooms look out over a quiet garden courtyard, a calm counterpoint to the city beyond. Place des Vosges is a thirteen-minute stroll, Île Saint-Louis eleven-minutes on foot, and the Sully-Morland metro is right at the door for when you want to range further.

Home truths:
* The main bedroom has a double sofa bed that can be made up on request – this doesn't increase the maximum occupancy of eight, but may be useful if members of your group prefer separate sleeping spaces. You'll need to give at least forty-eight hours' notice.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can arrange a cot and high chair on request.
* Pets are not permitted unless agreed in writing at the time of booking – if you're travelling with an animal, make sure to discuss this with your host before confirming.
* As is common in France, the toilets are separate from the bathroom.
