You reach it via a spiral staircase, and the sense of discovery carries inside – the living space is bathed in natural light, features wooden beams, and feels calm enough to actually unwind in, even with Notre-Dame a five-minute walk from the front door. By day, the island hums with cafes and shops – by night it quietens down in a way central Paris and the 4th arrondissement rarely does. Le Marais is around twenty minutes on foot, and multiple metro lines open up the rest of the city.

* The apartment is on the second floor with no lift, and reached via a spiral staircase – it's not suitable for guests with reduced mobility or anyone who struggles with stairs.
