Inside, the design has real conviction: a velvet sofa in a boldly styled living room, a calm bedroom with a dedicated workspace, and a sleek walk-in shower to close out long days of exploring. Place de la Bastille is under a fifteen-minute walk, Le Marais is close by on foot, and the neighbourhood itself delivers – cafes, bakeries, and Marché d'Aligre are practically on the doorstep.

Home truths:
* Keys are collected a short walk from the apartment rather than on-site, though your host is happy to meet you at the door if you'd prefer a direct handover. It's worth agreeing the arrangement with your host before you arrive.
* Well-behaved pets are welcome to accompany you during your stay for no additional charge.
* Air conditioning is only available in the living room.
* You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob. We think the kitchen is better suited to prepping lighter bites than large meals.
* While the large bed makes for a great night's sleep, it does feel a little big for the room. Space is limited, so we'd recommend travelling light.
