Courtyard in Marais

Tucked away on the ground floor of a quiet Le Marais courtyard, this 3rd arrondissement apartment trades street noise for a calm, restorative base in one of Paris's most compelling neighbourhoods. The sculpted sofa and warm, considered interiors make coming back at the end of the day genuinely easy. Step outside and you're moments from the cobblestones of Le Marais, a short walk from Place des Vosges, and around ten minutes on foot from the Centre Pompidou – with the Seine islands and Sainte-Chapelle's extraordinary Gothic stained glass not much further beyond.

Home truths:
* Le Marais is one of Paris's most walkable neighbourhoods, and this apartment puts you at the centre of it. Excellent public transport links make it straightforward to reach other parts of the city when you're ready to venture further afield.
* The apartment is self-contained with keyless entry, so there's no need to coordinate with anyone on arrival or departure – you can come and go on your own schedule.
* You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob. We think the kitchen is better suited to prepping lighter bites than large meals.
