This unorthodox basement apartment makes clever use of space without forsaking a sense of style. While there's room for four using the sofa bed, this realistically renders the stone-walled living area out of action, though there's still room for seating, cabinets and a TV in the corner. At the other side of the room is a kitchen area, with its own breakfast bar and seating. Behind this space is a cosy double bedroom which is still able to let in light, with direct access to the bathroom. Out the front door, you'll be moments from Place de la Bastille, with the charming district of Roquette offering many popular cafes, bars and restaurants.

*You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob. We think the kitchen is better suited to prepping lighter bites than large meals.
*Given the home's central spot, you may hear some street noise during your stay.
*At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living area.
*As is common in France, the toilet is separate from the bathroom.
