Montreuil sits just beyond the périphérique, and this calm apartment makes a strong case for basing yourself here rather than in central Paris. The bedroom is restful – cool, light-filled, and quiet enough to sleep well after a long day's exploring. Air conditioning keeps things comfortable when Paris summers do their worst, and the RER A at Vincennes is a seven-minute walk away, putting the Louvre and Champs-Élysées well within reach. Closer to home, Château de Vincennes is a ten-minute walk, and the vast Bois de Vincennes stretches beyond it – Paris's largest park, with lakes and trails to lose yourself in.

* The apartment is on the first floor and reached by stairs only, so it may not suit guests with limited mobility.
* At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living area.
