Tucked into the Suffolk countryside with Southwold's coast about a twenty-minute drive away, this cottage is built for slowing down. The orchard garden invites long lunches beneath the parasol, accompanied by birdsong and blossom, while cooler days call for curling up in the book-lined living room. Upstairs, the vaulted bedroom feels wonderfully tucked away from the world. Beyond your private space, you'll also have access to two acres of shared Suffolk gardens to wander at your leisure. We think it's the perfect retreat for two.

Home truths:
* Your host accepts two small, house-trained dogs (10kg or under, aged 6+ months) upon request. The garden boundary isn't fully dog-proof, so they'll need to be kept on a lead outside.
* The wider estate and gardens are shared with other guests in the main house, but you'll have your own private entrance and terrace to enjoy.
* You'll want a car to make the most of the coast and local villages. You'll have your own dedicated parking spot here.
* The bedroom sits on the upper level, reached via a wide staircase from the open-plan living area below – worth bearing in mind if you have limited mobility.
* Due to this home's remote location, you might find that the phone signal is patchy from time to time. However, the wi-fi signal is strong.
* The bedroom can be configured as a superking or twin – just let your host know your preference when booking.
* The open pond on the grounds means this home can only accommodate babes in arms (under 6 months) and children aged 8 and over.
