The property is just a short walk from the vibrant market town of Hay, which is famed for its annual literature festival. With a castle and small independent cinema, Hay has an excellent selection of quirky shops, cafes, bars, and restaurants along with a weekly street market showcasing seasonal local produce, cheese, and crafts. In warmer weather, you can enjoy paddling and swimming from The Warren, the local beach on the banks of the river. Canoeing and paddleboarding launch sites are also nearby. Walkers are well served with access onto the Offa s Dyke and Wye Valley Walk National Trails close by and, for the more adventurous, there s Hay Bluff, Twmpa and the path along the Hatterrall Ridge on the Black Mountains from where you can enjoy views to the Brecon Beacons, the Radnorshire Hills and down to Llaneliu Common above Talgarth. For a quieter, easier walk, but still with spectacular views, the walk to the Roundabout on The Begwyns above Clyro is a good one to start with. This handsome Georgian farmhouse has been in the Watt family since 1860 and offers a warm welcome.
