The little village of Backbarrow rests on the banks of the River Leven leading to the southern tip of Lake Windermere. The village is home some fascinating attractions, including the famous Haverthwaite Steam Railway, a 3.2 miles long heritage railway that runs between Haverthwaite and Lakeside. Venture over to Bowness-on-Windermere, providing a wealth of eateries and things to do, including the World of Beatrix Potter attraction, ideal for any literary lovers.
