Description Putham Barn, Cutcombe: Wheddon Cross addremove

Putham Barn, located in Cutcombe, Somerset, is a secluded detached property with breathtaking views of the Exmoor countryside. The property can accommodate up to 2 guests in a double bedroom and features a garden room that offers a picturesque space to enjoy the scenery. The property is dog-friendly, with a maximum of one dog per booking.

Situated on the edge of the village, Putham Barn is nestled neatly on the hillside, with the valley stretching out below. Guests can enjoy picturesque Exmoor walks directly from the property, and the village amenities are just under a mile away.

The property features a galleried bedroom upstairs with a double bed, while the living area has a sofa bed for flexible sleeping arrangements. Please note that the sofa bed is only suitable for children and not for four adults. The garden room provides a stunning view, and a new kitchen has recently been fitted. Downstairs, there is a shower room with a toilet and hand basin.

Guests have access to a small paddock in front of the cottage, and bed linen and towels are provided. The property also includes Wi-Fi, heating, and electricity, and smoking is strictly prohibited.

Please note that dogs are welcome but require prior arrangement, with a maximum of one dog allowed for a supplementary fee of £35. During certain seasons, dogs are not allowed. As the property is situated next to a working farm, guests must ensure that their dog is under control at all times, especially when livestock is nearby. Dogs are not allowed on furniture or upstairs and should not be left alone in the property at any time. Thank you for your cooperation.

Facilities
The main entrance to the property is at the side of the cottage, a small porch, ideal for storing boots, coats, etc, opens into the kitchen which has been recently fitted. The kitchen comprises an oven with gas hob, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, under-counter fridge (with freezer compartment) and includes a variety of cookware, utensils, crockery, cutlery and glasses. The shower room is also on this level; a shower unit, toilet and hand basin. Approximately 4 steps with a handrail lead up to the living room where there is a TV and a sofa, which folds out into a sofa bed which can provide flexible sleeping arrangements if required or can sleep up to 2 children. A glass door leads to the garden room which runs almost the length of the property, a small dining table and a variety of chairs are provided should you wish to dine or relax admiring the view. Stairs from the living room lead up the mezzanine area with a double bed.

Heating and electricity are included in the price of your accommodation. Putham Barn is fitted with underfloor heating on the ground floor plus a gas-fired imitation wood burner in the living room. There are radiators on mezzanine level (bedroom) plus electric fan heaters for the garden room if required.

Wifi is available free of charge.

Dogs are welcome (maximum of 1) upon payment of a supplement of £35 (note, no female dogs in season please). Please do not allow your dogs on the furniture or upstairs or leave them unattended in the property.

Location

Wheddon Cross is often called the 'crossroads of Exmoor' -- a friendly village at the junction of the B3224 and B3358, right in the heart of the National Park.

Standing at around 300 metres above sea level, Wheddon Cross is the highest village on Exmoor. It sits in the parish of Cutcombe, with the ancient parish church of St Andrew just a short walk away in the neighbouring hamlet. The village grew up around its important crossroads, where travellers on the old coaching routes between Dulverton, Minehead and Simonsbath would stop to rest.

Village Amenities

The Rest and Be Thankful Inn stands at the centre of the village -- a 19th-century coaching inn serving food, local ales and accommodation. Wheddon Cross also has a well-stocked village shop with post office services, a petrol station with ATM, free public toilets, a children's play park, and an active village hall hosting regular community events.

Nearby Towns

Minehead (8 miles) -- The main town of West Somerset, with larger supermarkets (Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl), high street banks, a sandy beach, and the terminus of the West Somerset Railway.

Dunster (7 miles) -- One of England's best-preserved medieval villages, dominated by its castle and famous yarn market. Excellent independent shops and places to eat.

Dulverton (10 miles) -- Known as the southern gateway to Exmoor, with a National Park Visitor Centre, independent shops, a butcher, and several pubs and restaurants along the River Barle.
