Sitting within the Mauna Lani Resort on the Kohala Coast, this single-level villa is built around a lanai that opens straight from the living room onto views of the golf course – ideal territory for alfresco breakfasts and evening barbecues. The KaMilo Recreation Center puts a lap pool, freeform pool, and hot tubs at your disposal, while a staffed private beach club comes included, stocked with snorkel gear, boogie boards, and everything else you'd need. Mauna Lani's sheltered white-sand bay is a twenty-eight-minute walk, and bikes are on hand to explore the resort at your own pace.

Home truths:
* At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living area.
* For those with reduced mobility, there's a ground floor bedroom and bathroom here.
* You'll need a car to reach most beaches and restaurants – the Kona airport is a twenty-five to thirty-five minute drive, and the nearest spectacular beaches are a short drive away.
* The twin beds in the third bedroom can be combined into a king using a luxury topper – let your host know before you arrive if you'd prefer that configuration.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a Pack 'n Play, full crib, high chair, bed rails, toilet-training seat, step stool, baby monitors, swim belt, bike trailer, and jogging stroller – though these items are subject to availability, so request them well in advance.
* You'll have access to the on-site swimming pool, hot tub and gym here. They're shared with the building's other residents.
