The quiet serenity of Lake Tahoe fills this home. From the decks, you'll find it easy to relax and savour the fresh Sierra Nevada air. Back inside, there are two living rooms for cosy gatherings and the upper floor features an additional kitchenette. The lake itself is less than a two-minute walk away via a short trail, and when you're ready to venture further, Northstar is a twelve-minute drive and Tahoe Vista Regional Park – with hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing – is five minutes from the door.

Home truths:
* Parking is available for up to five cars. If you're travelling in winter, you may need a 4-wheel drive vehicle or snow chains for your tyres, as side roads can stay icy for days after snowfall.
* The home sits on Highway 28, so you'll notice some road noise – worth bearing in mind if you're a light sleeper.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a high chair and stair gates. You'll need to request these in advance.
* There's no air conditioning here.
* The barbecue is only available during the summer months and is not accessible from November through April due to snow. Note that charcoal grills are not permitted in this county – only the gas grill provided here.
* Pets are not permitted at this home – the hosts have severe allergies and this policy is strictly enforced.
