Inside, vaulted beams and an open fire set the tone – sink into the sofa with a glass of wine, or slip behind the curtain divider to the king-size bed, hidden from the world. When you do venture out, the communal garden is perfect for tipples, and the on-site spring water lake awaits for wild swimming and fishing. Slightly further afield, you'll find Chipping Norton and Banbury when you're ready to explore.

Home truths:
* The bedroom is divided from the living area by a heavy curtain rather than a door, so sound travels easily between the two spaces – worth bearing in mind if one of you is an early riser.
* The courtyard and gardens are shared with other guests staying on the farm estate, so you won't have a private outdoor space to yourselves. There's also a shared laundry room.
* You'll have access to a communal games room here. It's shared with other guests and has a table tennis table, pool table, darts board, exercise bike, yoga mats, computer, a selection of books and games, and other activities.
* You'll want a car to reach shops, restaurants, and the surrounding Cotswold villages comfortably. Off-road parking is available for three cars.
* Your host can provide a cot and high chair for little ones upon request – just bring your own cot linen.
* The bedding here is feather, though non-feather linen can be provided upon request.
