Perched above Corossol harbour on the Caribbean island of Saint-Barthélemy, this villa is built around the view – sailboats drifting across the water, the harbour glowing as the sun drops. Two buildings face each other across a heated pool, with terraces and alfresco dining on both sides, so you're rarely far from open sky. The living room looks straight out onto the harbour, the front deck invites long evenings watching the light change, and on-request services – private chef, butler, yoga teacher – mean the stay can be as effortless as the setting.

Home truths:
* The villa spans two separate buildings, so guests staying in the annexe will step outside to reach the main living and dining areas – worth bearing in mind if you're allocating bedrooms for older guests or younger children.
* Three of the main building's bedrooms are on the upper floor, reached by a staircase – you'll be using the stairs regularly if you're in one of those rooms.
* Housekeeping is provided daily except on Sundays and public holidays. Towels are swapped every two days and bed linen every three days.
* Also included with your stay is a personalised welcome at St-Jean Airport or Gustavia Port.
* There's a heated outdoor swimming pool here. Pool heating is available between 15th November and 30th April.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and high chair.
