The infinity pool terrace seems to tip toward the horizon, and the covered dining and lounge area – where trade winds move through the space – blurs the line between inside and out in a way that makes you reluctant to choose. Every bedroom has ocean views and its own terrace access, while a shaded rear terrace with a fountain offers a cooler alternative when the afternoon sun is high. Gustavia's harbour and boutiques are within easy reach when you're ready to venture out.

Home truths:
* The villa is spread across two levels, so you'll be using the stairs regularly when moving between the upper and lower bedrooms, the fitness room, and the terraces.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot, high chair, baby monitor, baby bath, and changing mat. Safety gates are also available. You'll need to request these in advance.
* You'll need a car to make the most of your stay here – the villa sits in a residential hillside area and is not within walking distance of shops or restaurants.
* Housekeeping is provided daily except on Sundays and public holidays. Towels are swapped every two days and bed linen every three days.
