Perched on a hillside in Colombier, this villa earns its place with an infinity pool that seems to dissolve into Flamands Bay – the kind of view that makes it hard to leave a sun lounger. Three distinct outdoor terraces mean you can follow the light or the shade across the day, whether that's under the palms poolside, beneath the pergola, or on the rear terrace where a stone wall frames the garden behind you. Inside, up to twelve can gather under a vaulted ceiling for dinner, and five king-size suites – spread across the main building and two standalone bungalows – give each guest a sense of retreat.

Home truths:
* Two of the five bedrooms are on a lower level reached by a staircase, and two more are in separate bungalows – so you'll be moving between buildings and levels to gather the whole group together. It's worth keeping in mind if anyone in your party has limited mobility.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and high chair.
* Housekeeping is provided daily except on Sundays and public holidays. Towels are swapped every two days and bed linen every three days.
