A restored 19th-century boathouse on Skye's Trotternish peninsula, this cottage sits right on the edge of a private rocky shoreline with Loch Snizort stretching out before it and the Cuillin rising in the distance. Stone walls and a fire to warm up beside make it deeply cosy when the Atlantic wind picks up – and the freestanding bathtub, positioned to catch the loch views, is a rare touch. Sea eagles pass overhead, the garden terrace is yours alone, and Portree Harbour's colourful waterfront is a fourteen-minute drive when you're ready for it.

* You'll need to be able to manage stairs to reach the bedroom and bathroom here – it may not suit guests with reduced mobility.
* The wi-fi here is limited – your host is upfront that broadband is not super fast. If you're planning to work remotely or stream heavily, it's worth managing expectations before you arrive.
* Due to this home's location, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay.
* One member of your booking party must be over 25 years old. You'll also need to provide names and ages for all guests, plus proof of address and ID for the lead guest, within two days of booking.
