Centurion Stag

Set on one of the most characterful streets in Monti, there’s a surprising sense of calm in this apartment. You’re right in the thick of it here, with the Colosseum a fifteen-minute walk in one direction, and twelve minutes to the Trevi Fountain in the other. The surrounding streets are brimming with pizzerias, local trattoria selling carbonara by the mound and pavement cafés spilling into piazzas. Yet the apartment itself is a haven of calm. In true Italian style, the sofa is leather and depictions of Rome on the gallery-white walls are a reminder of exactly where you are. A sleek, modern kitchen has everything you need to rustle up a plate of pasta for dinner. Or, you can head out to the many eateries in the area. You’re spoilt for choice in Monti.

Home truths:
*All of the windows face onto the internal courtyard, so there's no view to speak of
*The flat doesn't get a lot of natural light – there are only three windows in the whole place
*One person can sleep on a sofa bed in the living room
*As there's a hot water tank, it's possible that several long showers in a row will use up all the hot water
*The wall with the door to the main bedroom doesn't reach all the way to the ceiling
*City taxes are not included in the price of the stay and will be collected in person upon check-in
