The medieval walls of Monteriggioni, San Gimignano's famous towers, and, of course, the Chianti wine estates lie within easy reach, making this a natural base for exploring.

* Pets are welcome here, but you'll need to give your host prior notice before bringing one along.
* Air conditioning is only available in the ground-floor bedroom and the entire first floor. Thanks to thick stone walls, high ceilings, and natural ventilation, the ground floor remains relatively cool even in the summer.
* You'll need a car to make the most of your stay. Staggia Senese sits on the edge of Poggibonsi, and the villages, vineyards, and hill towns of the Chianti are all a drive away. There is ample private parking at the villa.
* The twin beds in bedroom five can be joined together to make a double bed – let your host know in advance if you'd prefer that configuration.
* For those with reduced mobility, there's a ground floor bedroom and bathroom here.
* The swimming pool is only available to use between April and October.
