Soaring timber beams, a stone fireplace, and floor-to-ceiling windows framing jagged white summits – this house in Lower Deer Valley sets a mood that's hard to shake. The wraparound deck is made for alfresco dining with those peaks stretching to the horizon, while a covered hot tub terrace gives you somewhere to decompress once the sun drops. After a day on the slopes, the lower-level den with a wet bar earns its keep. Snow Park Lodge at Deer Valley is a six-minute drive away, with a free shuttle running through ski season.

Home truths:
* There are five parking spaces in total – three in the garage and two on the driveway – so if you're arriving as a full group you'll want to coordinate who brings how many vehicles.
* You'll need a car to get around from here if you're visiting out of season. The home is a short drive from both Deer Valley Resort and Park City's Main Street, and reaching town or the mountains isn't walkable. The free Deer Valley Shuttle to Snow Park Lodge only runs from 7th December to 13th April.
* The home is well stocked with a starter set of essentials – soap, paper products, dish and laundry detergent, and bath and kitchen towels – but once those run out, restocking is on you.
* The gathering spaces, bedrooms, and kitchen are spread across three separate levels, so moving between the living and sleeping areas of the home means using the stairs regularly. It may not suit those with reduced mobility.
