Sitting right on Powell Lake in a gated community, this house is built around water – a private dock at the bottom of the grounds, covered decks with lake views, and a living room where the outlook follows you into the evening. The top-floor lounge with a wet bar is a natural end-of-day gathering spot. Getting around is easy with a six-passenger golf cart and five bikes included, and the downtown strip – The Salty Crab, Beach Café, and Gratify among them – is a short ride away.

Home truths:
* At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the den.
* You'll need to bring your own beach and pool towels – bath towels and linens are for in-home use only and may not be taken from the home.
* The Kamado Joe grill is not available for guest use – you'll want to use the outdoor barbecue for any alfresco cooking.
* You'll have access to eight beach walkovers, three community pools, pickleball and tennis courts, and a fitness centre here. They're shared with the resort's other residents.
* You'll have four driveway spaces for vehicles, so if you're arriving as a full group of fourteen, plan your transport arrangements ahead of time.
* The lead guest must be at least 25 years old.
