On the second floor of a village apartment in Ossuccio, three panoramic windows frame Lake Como in a way that never quite lets you tune it out – the bedroom wakes you with it, and the kitchen keeps it in view while you cook. A small balcony with a table is the place to sit with a coffee and let the lake do the talking. Beyond the village, Comacina Island – Como's only island – is a short boat ride away, and Bellagio, Varenna, and the city of Como are all within a thirty-minute drive.

* At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living area.
* One well-behaved pet is welcome to join you here.
* You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob. We think the kitchen is better suited to prepping lighter bites than large meals.
* The building has no lift, so you'll be carrying luggage up to the second floor on foot. Worth bearing in mind if you have heavy bags or pushchairs.
* The nearest railway station is 25 km away and the airport is 73 km away, so you'll need a car or taxi to get here. Your private garage makes arriving by car the most straightforward option.
* You'll need to get in touch with your host at least three days before you arrive to arrange check-in and share your arrival details.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and high chair at no additional cost. You'll need to request them in advance.
