Sitting directly on the sand in Newport Beach, this house puts the Pacific at arm's reach – fold back the glass doors and the living room becomes an extension of the beach itself. Upstairs, the main bedroom opens onto its own deck with views stretching out to Catalina Island, while the rooftop hot tub is the place to be as the sun drops over the water. A jetty-protected stretch of beach out front is ideal for surfing and swimming, and the boardwalk's shops and restaurants are an easy walk away.

* This home is set over three floors, so you'll need to be able to climb stairs here. It might not be the best option for those with reduced mobility.
* At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living area on the third floor.
* You're right on the beach boardwalk, so expect some foot traffic passing by, especially at weekends. It can also get a little lively outside at night when the beach path is busy.
* The garage fits two cars but the alleyway access is narrow, so manoeuvring a larger SUV or minivan in requires care.
