Close to Santa Monica airport and just five minutes from the beach, this LA home offers a lot more than meets the eye. A comfortable, detached single-storey house with a separate music studio, all sorts of musicians have stayed and worked here over the years. Created by one of the founders of Trotsky Icepick in the mid-80s, it's been used by major record labels and well-known sound engineers and recently hosted Australia's top electronic music group, Rüfüs du Sol.

That aside, the home has been freshly remodelled, with a bright, sociable living space, relaxing bedrooms and sleek, modern bathrooms. There's a well kitted-out kitchen for meals at home, and you'll be within an easy drive of numerous excellent dining options.

The outdoor space is another of this home's little surprises. With a pretty yard, fruit trees and a covered outdoor lounge area, there's plenty of room for your group to spread out. The heated saltwater pool is a new addition and comes with an infinity Jacuzzi, a deep end for diving and shallow shelves for sunbathing.

Just across the road from a park and a golf course, this is a quiet neighbourhood, and your host has curated self-guided bike tours for keen cyclists – including Venice and Santa Monica beaches and the Venice canals, all of which are within twenty minutes on two wheels. Besides Venice Beach and Santa Monica Pier, other must-see attractions nearby include Marina Del Rey, The Getty, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Hollywood, Universal City, and The Grove. Downtown is also only 20 minutes away and many of the best restaurants are right nearby on the Westside, from hole-in-the-wall gems to Michelin-Star establishments.
