Back home, lift access and in-home laundry make the practical side of travel effortless, and air conditioning means you're comfortable whatever the season brings.

Home truths:
* Underground train noise is audible from inside the apartment, roughly every five minutes during the day. It settles overnight, but if you're a light sleeper you may want to pack earplugs.
* Parking in Kensington can be tricky and expensive, so we recommend getting around on foot or by public transport where possible. High Street Kensington Underground is a short walk away, and several other Tube stations are also within easy reach.
* Your host can provide a cot and high chair for little ones upon request – just bring your own cot linen.
* At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed. We think it might feel a little cramped, so we recommend a guest count of two.
