Original cornicing, sash windows, and an open fireplace ground the living room in period character, while the main bedroom – occupying an entire floor, with a freestanding bathtub and walk-in shower en-suite – makes a strong case for slow mornings. The children's bunk room, with its built-in playhouse and arched play kitchen, is a world unto itself. Outside, the large private garden gives way to a cedar-clad studio housing a gym with Watt bikes, a rowing machine, and a ballet barre – a rare setup for central London.

Home truths:
* This is a five-floor home, so you'll be using the stairs a lot. Worth bearing in mind if anyone in your group has mobility considerations.
* The house comes with two cats who live here. They'll be around during your stay, though if you'd prefer other arrangements your host can sort that out in advance.
* If you're travelling with a baby or toddler, your host can provide a cot on request – make sure to ask ahead of your arrival.
*While the fifth bedroom isn’t photographed, expect the style and quality to be consistent with the rest of the home.
* Parking in London can be tricky. We recommend exploring on foot or using the excellent public transport links close by.
* Early check-ins and late check-outs are available upon request only. They can be arranged close to your arrival or departure date.
* This is a lived-in home. You should expect some of the host's personal belongings to be present during your stay.
