The street scenes of Alfama below you are a little slice of medieval Lisbon, and you can walk to many of the city's best-loved attractions in just a few minutes. A wander to the Castelo will take just three minutes and, in the opposite direction, you'll find the remains of a Roman theatre built for emperor Nero. As you stroll north, the area will slowly transform into Mouraria, another history-filled neighbourhood which is a pleasure to explore.
