Description Playa Bonita Sundown: Las Terrenas

One hundred metres of private beachfront on Playa Bonita is a rare thing, and this villa makes full use of it – calm, swimmable water right in front, kayaks and paddleboards ready, and a sound system that follows you all the way to the sand. The pool sits amid palm gardens for when you want shade and stillness, while five king bedrooms each have their own en-suite bathroom, with the main bedroom opening to direct ocean views each morning. On-site staff keep everything running quietly in the background. Las Terrenas' restaurants and boutiques are close when you need them.

Home truths:
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot, high chair, and baby bath – request these in advance.
* The toiletries provided are basic, so it's worth packing your own shampoo, conditioner, and soap if you have preferences.
