An outdoor kitchen sits alongside the lanai for barbecue evenings under the palms, while a detached guest suite with its own living area and kitchenette gives families breathing room. The shops at Kukuiʻula and Old Koloa Town are walkable, and Poipu's beaches are a short drive away.

Home truths:
* One of the bedrooms has two single-over-double bunk beds that can sleep up to six people in total – we think they might be best suited to children.
* The pool is not heated, so water temperature will depend on the weather. On Kauai's south shore this is warm for much of the year, but it's worth bearing in mind if you're visiting in the cooler winter months.
* The home is currently listed for sale, so your property manager may occasionally need to coordinate a viewing during your stay. They'll aim to arrange this at a time that's convenient for you.
