It's not hard to see how the Greek myths of sea gods and Mount Olympus came into being at this beautiful spot on the Liakas Peninsula. Bordered by the slopes of Mount Ainos and with uninterrupted views out over the ocean towards Zakynthos, this home's garden is the stuff of legends. The lawns stretch right to the edge of the sea, where a private pool invites refreshing dips and a table tennis table promises some afternoon competition – all set against a stunning coastal backdrop, of course.

Inside, an open-plan living space is flooded with light from the sliding doors, with an L-shaped sofa for movie nights. Bedrooms bounce from orange to pastel blue, and each has its own en-suite for privacy. Two even boast sea-facing balconies. The decor may be a little dated (especially the kitchen), but it’s cosy and comfortable. And with easy access to the sea, a rocky beach a short walk away, and shops and tavernas within ten minutes by car, we reckon most of your time will be spent out and about.

*At full capacity, one guest will sleep on a sofa bed in the living area.
*We think this home may be a bit snug for nine guests, as there's only one L-shaped sofa. However, there's a lot of space to lounge outside.
*Please note that air conditioning is only available in the sitting area and bedrooms.
*The swimming pool is only available to use between 1st May and 31st October. Your host provides one pool towel per person.
*While you'll have to travel a little further to reach the beach, there's a ladder close by that gives you direct access to the ocean for swimming and snorkelling.
*We recommend having a car in this area – there's covered parking for two cars in the driveway.
*For stays of 7 nights or more, towels will be changed every 4 days. For stays of 14 nights or more, bed linen will be changed every 7 days.
*The satellite TV has limited channels.
*The fuss-free decor may not be to everyone's tastes – it feels a little dated in parts, especially the kitchen.
