Originally a barn dating from 1680, this building has been converted into a striking glass-fronted home, with amenities for every season. At its heart is the vaulted living space, where a circular wood burner holds court and bi-fold doors spill out onto a sun-warmed patio. When the weather plays along, a thatched outdoor kitchen with plancha grills makes alfresco cooking easy, and the enclosed paddock is great for giving dogs room to roam; when it doesn't, the mezzanine snug – with its Juliet balcony overlooking the living area below – is a fine place to retreat. The village of Wigbeth sits near the Dorset–Hampshire border, with Cranborne Chase and Kingston Lacy on the doorstep for walks.

* Due to this home's location, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay. There is off-road parking for up to three vehicles. If you need an additional space, your host can help arrange it.
* The super-king bedroom on the upper mezzanine level can be made up as a twin instead – let your host know in advance if you'd prefer that configuration. This bedroom is semi-open to the space below, so privacy is limited.
* The TV here is internet-only, so streaming services are your evening entertainment rather than live or broadcast television.
* Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you here.
* For those with reduced mobility, there's a ground floor bedroom and bathroom here.
* Hen and stag parties are strictly not allowed at this home.
