A wood-burning fireplace, a games room below, and two mudrooms keeping kit in order mean the practical side of a ski trip is taken care of, so the focus stays firmly on the mountain.

Home truths:
* A starter supply of essentials – soap, paper products, dish and laundry detergent, and towels – is provided on arrival. Once these run out, you'll need to pick up your own supplies for the rest of your stay.
* The living and dining spaces are on the main level while the games room and second lounge sit on the lower level, so the group will naturally spread across floors – worth factoring in if you want everyone in the same space.
* Big Sky is a mountain resort town and not easily navigable on foot for errands or dining out – you'll want a car for anything beyond the slopes.
* You'll have a heated garage on site, with extra space in the driveway if your group is arriving in multiple vehicles.
