Calton Hill is an eight-minute walk for panoramic views over the skyline, Stockbridge's independent shops and Sunday farmers' market are close by, and Edinburgh Waverley is a fifteen-minute walk for onward connections wherever the trip takes you.

* There are stairs both outside and inside the building, including 13 steps up to the property,  nine steps to the first floor, and 21 steps up to the second floor. It won't be suitable for guests with reduced mobility or those with heavy luggage.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and high chair. Request them in advance to make sure everything is ready on arrival.
* Your host asks you to respect quiet hours between 10pm and 9am.
