George Street's upscale bars and restaurants are a five-minute stroll away, Princes Street is less than ten minutes on foot, and Edinburgh Castle is a fifteen-minute walk – so whether you're here to explore or simply wander, the city arranges itself around you.

* Queen Street is a busy city-centre road, so some traffic noise and sirens can be expected. Your host thoughtfully provides earplugs.
* The apartment is on the second floor with no lift – you'll have to climb steep spiral stairs to reach this home.
* Entry to the building uses an online key system accessed via your phone, so make sure your device is charged before you head out for the day.
* There is ongoing construction on a neighbouring building, so expect some daytime noise during your stay.
* You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob. We think the kitchen is better suited to prepping lighter bites than large meals.
* There's a clothing rail instead of a proper wardrobe, so we'd recommend packing light.
