Tucked into the South Devon hamlet of East Cornworthy, this cottage earns its place through a combination of countryside calm and versatile outdoor living. The elevated garden delivers far-reaching views across the Devon hills, with a hot tub, fire pit, and sun loungers making it easy to lose entire afternoons up there. Inside, two wood-burning stoves – one in the living room, one in a separate snug – keep things cosy, while the conservatory dining room opens onto the terrace for meals surrounded by greenery. Dartmouth's historic harbour and the River Dart ferry from nearby Dittisham are both within easy reach.

Home truths:
* The second bedroom's super king-size bed can be arranged as twin beds on request – let your host know before you arrive if you'd prefer that configuration.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can supply a cot and high chair – request them ahead of your stay to make sure they're ready on arrival.
* You'll want a car to explore the wider South Hams – the village has a pub and shop within walking distance, but beaches, towns and coastal walks all require a drive. Parking and an EV charger are available.
* Guests are welcome to bring their own boat, with boat launching facilities and storage conveniently located opposite the cottage.
