Studio apartments aren't for everyone, but when they're done this well, they can be fabulous spots for a city break. In this case, much of the appeal is down to what lies outside the home. Step next to the large window and you're greeted with sweeping views of the V&A Waterfront and the Atlantic Ocean. You can also take in this wonderful panorama when you head up to the 27th floor and make use of the building's communal swimming pool and gym deck.

The actual living quarters deserve some praise, too. Yes, the kitchen certainly lies on the smaller side, but there's just enough equipment and space to cook modest meals. The design is fresh and contemporary throughout, with walls painted a muted grey and the bare wooden floors catching the sunlight from the window in pleasing fashion.

To top it all off, the location is unbeatable. You're within walking distance of everything from the museums in the city centre and the harbourfront restaurants in the V&A Waterfront to the Cape Town International Convention Centre, too. Table Mountain is only a ten-minute drive away if you fancy a hike, as are Camps Bay and Clifton Beaches for those sizzling hot afternoons when nothing but a couple of hours at the seaside will do.
