Or, for a change of scene and dose of culture, blaze a trail to downtown Cape Town and the Waterfront, just a short drive or bus ride along the scenic coastal road.

When it's time to rest up back at home, this light-filled, newly renovated apartment is a joy to return to. Modern minimalism is the rule here, with gloriously clutter-free space throughout. The light-filled living area is perfect for crashing out for lazy brunches and movie nights, along with a spacious dining table that doubles as a desk with a view. But the clincher for us has to be that private balcony with sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean, Devil's Peak, and the Twelve Apostles mountain range beyond. Go grab yourselves some sundowners and prepare for a show – the view of the sun setting over the Atlantic can't be beaten.
