Vino & Verde

Tucked into the Fattoria di Fubbiano estate – one of Lucca's most celebrated wine and olive oil producers – this farmhouse sits in quiet countryside with a garden pool overlooking the Tuscan hillside. A complimentary tasting of the estate's award-winning D.O.C. wines and extra-virgin olive oil is included for every guest, and a short walk along a country path brings you to the village of San Gennaro and its local restaurant. Lucca itself, with Piazza dell'Anfiteatro and the cathedral, is a nineteen-minute drive – close enough for a day trip, distant enough to feel removed from it all.

Home truths:
* The first floor – where all three bedrooms and both bathrooms are located – is accessed from the back garden rather than from inside the ground floor. You'll be stepping outside each time you move between floors.
* The two twin bedrooms can each be converted into a king room – let your host know in advance if you'd prefer that configuration.
* The estate's German Shepherd, Lampo, roams freely across the grounds.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and high chair on request.
* The swimming pool is only available for use between 15th May and 30th September.
* Air conditioning is only available in the bedrooms.
