This apartment in Cádiz's beloved La Viña neighbourhood sits just steps from La Caleta Beach and the twin fortresses of Castillo de Santa Catalina and Castillo de San Sebastián. Back inside, the main bedroom opens onto its own Juliet balcony, while a tropical mural anchors the living space with real character. Best of all, a communal rooftop terrace waits upstairs, sun loungers out and Andalusian sky overhead, for slow evenings with nowhere better to be.

Home truths:
* At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living area. That said, we think the space will be a bit snug for five guests – we'd suggest a maximum guest count of four.
* You'll have access to the building's rooftop terrace here. It's shared with other residents.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and high chair. You'll need to request them in advance.
* You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob. We think the kitchen is better suited to prepping lighter bites than large meals.
