This immaculate apartment just four kilometres from the golden shores of Estepona had us on that vast sea-facing terrace alone. And that was before we'd even clapped eyes on the palm-strewn shared pools and turquoise-blue lagoon at the apartment complex's heart.

Inside, the apartment is fresh and inviting, with bright pops of colour keeping everything uplifting. And you'll love how light-filled the bedrooms feel, each with its own bathroom for a little extra privacy.

But it's the dizzying array of shared facilities to rival a five-star hotel that's getting us hot under the collar. Get your mornings off to an adrenaline-fuelled start at the lagoon (100 metres away) for paddle boarding, windsurfing and general splashing about. Back on dry land, kids can try wall climbing with an on-site instructor while you bank a workout in the gym. And when it's time to get back together and relax, the shared swimming pools and hot tubs are ready and waiting.

When thoughts turn to food, you can always zip back upstairs to the apartment for alfresco lunch on that sublime terrace. But if you'd rather not cook, the on-site restaurants overlooking the lagoon are just the ticket. Or head down to Estepona seafront for a sunset meal – there's a chiringuito with a table on the sand waiting just for you.
