Ski-in/ski-out access at a pine-wrapped chalet in Spanish Peaks Mountain Club – it's a hard combination to beat. Stone masonry, wood-beamed ceilings, and a wood-burning fireplace give the living room a warmth that feels distinctly alpine, while the covered deck with a private hot tub and Cowboy Cauldron fire pit makes evenings under the Montana sky something to look forward to all day on the mountain. When the slopes are done, a lower-level recreation room with ping pong, air hockey, and a wet bar keeps the energy going well into the night.

Home truths:
* You'll need a 4-wheel-drive vehicle to reach the chalet in winter conditions, so bear that in mind when hiring a car or planning your drive in. On-site parking is available once you arrive.
* There is no air conditioning here, so summer stays will rely on the mountain elevation to keep things cool. If you're visiting during a warm spell, it's worth packing lighter layers for sleeping.
* A starter supply of consumables – soap, paper products, dish and laundry detergent, and similar essentials – is provided on arrival. Once these run out, you'll need to stock up yourself.
* There may be some construction noise in the area during your stay, as the local municipality and homeowners are carrying out ongoing improvements to the neighbourhood.
* While the home can sleep up to sixteen people, the maximum occupancy is fourteen guests.
* The third floor sleeping area features two bunk units – a double-over-double and a single-over-single.
