Perched on a hillside above Bardolino, this apartment looks out over Lake Garda from a private terrace and garden shaded by towering agave plants – the kind of outlook that makes an evening aperitif feel like a ritual. Two thousand square metres of wild, natural grounds surround you, with a brick wood-fired barbecue and a table positioned at the most scenic point. Inside, the living area is well laid out for groups, with a downstairs lounge and games area offering a quieter retreat when you need one. Pets are welcome too.

Home truths:
* Well-behaved pets are welcome to join you upon request, for no additional charge.
* There are two private parking spaces here, reached via a dirt road from the gate. If you're arriving by car – which we'd recommend given the hillside location – factor in that the access road is unpaved.
* The apartment sits on the ground floor, but the parking area is uphill, connected to the entrance by a garden staircase. You'll be carrying bags up and down those steps on arrival and departure.
* The washing machine is located on the lower level, in the room with the additional lounge and games area – a floor down from the main living space.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot. You'll need to request it in advance.
* This home does not accept groups of young people (up to 24 years of age).
