Perched above the water in Pointe Milou, this villa is oriented almost entirely towards the ocean – Lorient Bay stretches out below, and three of the four bedrooms wake up to the same panoramic view. The heated infinity pool appears to dissolve into the horizon, and the covered front terrace is an easy place to linger over a long dinner as the Caribbean light shifts. A quieter back terrace, shaded and surrounded by greenery, offers a more secluded counterpoint. Daily housekeeping is included, and on-request services are available for a fee – private chef, butler, yoga – meaning the pace here is entirely yours to set.

Home truths:
* Two of the bedrooms on the main level are connected – ideal if you're travelling with children who need to be close by, but worth bearing in mind if your group prefers fully separate rooms.
* Housekeeping is provided daily except on Sundays and public holidays. Towels are swapped every two days and bed linen every three days.
* Also included with your stay is a personalised welcome at St-Jean Airport or Gustavia Port.
* There's a heated outdoor swimming pool here. Pool heating is available between 15th November and 30th April.
