Perched on the heights of Gouverneur, this villa is built around one of the most rewarding views in Saint-Barthélemy – a heated infinity pool extending from the covered dining terrace, with the Caribbean horizon laid out ahead. Trade winds keep things cool as you eat alfresco or settle into the living room, where vaulted whitewashed ceilings lend the space a calm, unhurried feel. A separate bungalow bedroom sits apart from the main building for complete seclusion, while on-request services – private chef, yoga teacher, massage staff – mean the level of ease here is entirely up to you.

Home truths:
* The third bedroom sits in a separate bungalow and can only be reached by stepping outside, so whoever stays there will be coming and going through the garden rather than through the main building.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and high chair at no additional cost. You'll need to request them in advance.
* The twin beds in one of the main building bedrooms can be pushed together to make a double – let your host know in advance if you'd prefer that configuration.
* There's a heated outdoor swimming pool here. Pool heating is available between 15th November and 30th April.
* For those with reduced mobility, there's a ground floor bedroom and bathroom here.
* Housekeeping is provided daily except on Sundays and public holidays. Towels are swapped every two days and bed linen every three days.
