Bedrooms open onto private terraces, one with a jacuzzi, while a garden-facing bathroom with vaulted timber ceilings adds a quietly tropical touch. A concierge team handles the details, and Lorient Beach – sheltered, turquoise, and loved by locals – is close at hand.

Home truths:
* Two of the six bedrooms are in standalone garden bungalows, separate from the main villa. If your group prefers to stay close together in the evenings, it's worth factoring in who sleeps where when you allocate rooms.
* The fourth bedroom is on the lower level and reached via an outdoor staircase rather than an internal corridor.
* While children over 10 are welcome, this home isn't suitable for babies or toddlers.
* There's a heated outdoor swimming pool here. Pool heating is available between 15th November and 30th April.
* Housekeeping is provided daily except on Sundays and public holidays. Towels are swapped every two days and bed linen every three days.
