Filopappou Light

Light is the first thing you notice in this Koukaki apartment – the living room and balcony both catch the Athens sun, making mornings here feel bright and breezy. The balcony is a good reason to linger over coffee before heading out, and the neighbourhood gives you plenty to discover. Filopappou Hill's green trails are close, the Acropolis is walkable from the door, and the area is famed for its thriving cafe culture. Two metro stations nearby keep the wider city within easy reach – though we think setting off on foot is the best way to explore.

Home truths:
* At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living area.
* The lift in the building is compact and fits one or two adults comfortably – it's not suited to large suitcases, wheelchairs, or unfolded prams, so you'll need to take those up the stairs separately. There are also some stairs to reach the lift.
* The apartment sits above bars in the neighbourhood, so on some evenings you may notice noise from below – worth keeping in mind if you're a light sleeper.
* One well-behaved, house-trained pet is welcome to join you. Pets shouldn't be left alone in the apartment, and your host asks that you please bring their own bedding and keep them off the furniture.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot, high chair, baby bath, and additional mattresses – just request them in advance.
